What to Expect at Southside

Since you are new here, we would like to give you an overview of what we do during our Sunday School and Worship Service.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School starts at 9:30, with most of the Adult and Children classes being in our Family Life Center behind the Main Sanctuary. The Preschool classes are held in the Middle Building. You go in through the glass door by the Church Office – then go left and follow a winding hallway, finally coming out at the main entrance to the Preschool facilities.

We have a Nursery for babies and Sunday School classes all the way from Preschool through Senior Adults with good teachers who are prepared to teach the truths of the Bible. Our teachers for youth, children, and preschool love to work with kids and desire to form a bond with them in order to minister to their needs.

Sunday School is over at 10:15 and everyone goes to the Sanctuary for worship, with the exception of the choir members who meet in the Choir Room to rehearse their song for the worship service.

WORSHIP SERVICES

Expect to be welcomed by a loving congregation. Expect to sing along in our blended worship service. We have a praise band that includes keys, strings, and drums. Expect to hear the Word of God preached. Bro. Tim dives into the Scriptures (he usually preaches from the ESV) each message to help us understand what God’s Word meant when it was written and how it applies to us today. Expect to be challenged to grow in your walk with the Lord and grow as disciple maker in Christ’s kingdom.

Our songs are a mixture of Contemporary and Traditional, with a good mix of both. The choir also sings a blend of different styles. Our song service usually lasts about 30 minutes and the preaching time lasts anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. Since we start at 10:30, we are usually out before 12.

We are fairly conservative in our dress. Some people dress in Sunday dresses and suits while others dress in a more casual fashion. We do have a time of greeting during the service because we want you to know how excited we are for you to be in our service. We would love for you to fill out the visitor card we give out so that we can visit with you and get to know you better. We would be honored to have you come and visit us any Sunday or Wednesday.

There is a Children’s Church for Grades 1 – 3 in the Middle Building where the Office is located. They go directly after Sunday School and will stay there until all parents have picked them up after the adult service.
